Celebrating Birthdays during the Pandemic.

Birthdays are important in my home, it brings friends and family together, strengthening bonds and create cherished memories. Usually, we celebrate with friends and families over diner carousing into the wee hours. But when my husband’s birthday rolled in this year, we were in lockdown :(

I organised a Zoom birthday celebration with family members and some close friends, baked him a red velvet cake (a first time trial that came out surprisingly delicious, don't judge by the look) and prepared a slideshow of memories.

The Zoom ‘party’ started at 18h00 and only ended after midnight. So, what did we manage to do in those 5 hours. Everyone who attended had to choose a photo and once it appeared on the screen, my husband had to revisit the situation. While he did so, the other family members and friends would add to the story. There was laughter, tears of joy and so much of emotions in all those sharing that we just couldn’t stop even after the slideshow was over. Everyone had one or many stories, situations or jokes to share.Just like those past moments became today's memories, today's little moments will become tomorrow's precious memorie

It was important for us to come together and celebrate more than ever. We had some much needed fun even if it was a virtual party. Being part of a family means being part of something incredibly wonderful. It means you are loved and will love for the rest of your life. No matter in which directions we grow our roots remain the same.

Boy.. we are so looking forward to our next meeting once the confinement is over.
